How does Guardian Home Program work?
Once you are accepted to be a guardian home you will be on a reservation list to receive a puppy. All Guardian Homes receive the "pick of the litter" chosen by breeder. Rolling Oak Doodles maintains breeding rights and will pay for all breeding expenses. Rolling Oak Doodles will only pay health test for breeding purposes, all breeding cost, and spay/neuter after the guardian dog retires. Guardian home will pay for all normal dog cost : food, dishes, toys, preventatives, health insurance, vaccinations, training classes, etc. We do require a visit to your home or meet up every few months or so to see how puppy is doing and continue building a relationship with the guardian family and dog. We also ask you to bring puppy to our house a few times before future breeding so they are comfortable with us. It is a great way for us to bond and interact with guardian dogs. We would never just give a guardian dog away for free. They do require a reservation.
Male Guardian Dogs:
Male guardian dogs will be ready to start breeding after they complete their health testing. We will need access to him for short vet visits during the day for health test and. breeding. We never breed a male after 8 years of age. When he retires we will pay for his neuter.
Female Guardian Dogs:
We never breed a female guardian dog until her 3rd heat cycle or over 18 months old. When she starts her 3rd heat cycle or 18 months old we will need her for short visits during the day for the breeding to take place. 4 weeks later we will take her in for an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy. When the female is with us to raise her puppies the guardian family is allowed to visit the mom and puppies anytime after puppies are 4 weeks old. We never breed female guardian dogs more than 4 times and never after 6 years old. When the female guardian dogs retire we will pay for her spaying.
